Chris Sims

Christopher Sims was formerly the Chief Constable of Staffordshire and then Chief Constable of West Midlands Police. His career included national leadership roles in forensic science, acquisitive crime and counter terrorism. Since his retirement from policing he has led the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s Specialist Capabilities Programme, worked on the Home Office Biometrics Programme advising on the use of facial recognition technology and undertaken various consulting roles. He was a member of the team delivering the Cambridge University Master’s programme in Applied Criminology and Police Management, supervising the dissertations of UK and overseas students. This built on his time in the West Midlands where he hosted a number of the most important British policing experiments. He is a previous winner of the Peel Medal for his contributions to Evidence-Based Policing.
