Professor Barak Ariel

Barak Ariel is Professor of Experimental Criminology and Director of the Police Executive Programme in the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge. He is involved in evaluation research projects with a large number of criminal justice agencies around the world, specifically on organised crime, crime and place, and technology in policing, especially body-worn cameras. He is also an advisor to several governments and police departments, including forces in England and Wales, the United States, Latin America and Europe. 

Since 2009 Professor Ariel has taught in the Institute’s Police Executive Programme and has been affiliated with the Institute’s Lee Centre for Experimental Criminology.  He was the Chair of the American Society of Criminology’s Division of Experimental Criminology in 2019-2021.
